Our Report: Google is launching an equity-free program for American startups (entitled âGoogle for Startups AI Academy: American Infrastructureâ) to bring AI technology to the public sector to improve services and overcome key challenges.
đ Key Points:
Over 12 weeks, program participants will be guided by Googleâs People + AI Research (PAIR) AI curriculum, get training from AI experts, and attend go-to-market workshops.
Theyâll also get access to Googleâs latest AI tools and a network of industry connections from companies in notoriously challenging areas like agriculture, energy, and public safety.
The deadline for program applications is June 17, and Google will select startups that are using AI to solve issues in areas like disaster prevention, smart manufacturing, and water management.
đ€Â Why you should care: Google is launching this program to foster innovation, solve complex public sector challenges, and build real-world AI applications that will impact communities at local, state, and national levels, improving public services and infrastructureâmaking them more efficient and effective.

Our Report: Asana is launching an AI-powered toolâAI teammatesâthat can advise workers on priorities, create workflows, and complete tasks to maximize workplace productivity.
đ Key Points:
The AI teammates bot uses Asanaâs Work Graph data (which maps how work is connected between departments) to advise employees, assign tasks, and complete information.
When work comes in, it processes stored data about past projects and assigns tasks to people with the right skill sets, evaluates the next steps, and reaches out for missing details.
It's currently in beta, with one organization already using it to create tailored advertising content, translate assets into different languages, and standardize workflows.
đ€Â Why you should care: Asana is encouraging users to keep âhumans in the loopâ to make sure it's making recommendations in line with company values and to reduce the risk of AI hallucinations if the bot doesnât understand the context of an activity, which is likely, especially if itâs deployed at scale.

Our Report: AI image generator start-up, Stability AI, has released an open-source text-to-audio model (called Stable Audio Open) that generates high-quality sounds, songs, and audio samples.
đ Key Points:
Stable Audio Open has been trained using over 486,000 royalty-free recordings from music libraries, and it can create audio samples that are up to 47 seconds long.
Users can use it to edit existing songs or apply the style of one song to another, and because itâs open-source, they can train and fine-tune the model using their own audio data.
The tool (not for commercial use) is optimized for âshort musical clipsââlike drum beats, instrument riffs, and ambient soundsâfor TV, films, or video, rather than âfull songs or vocals.â
đ€Â Why you should care: If users want to generate audio tracks over 47 seconds long, they can subscribe to âStable Audio 2.0â (launched last year) which creates âhigh-quality,â 44.1 kHz music tracks, up to three minutes long, which can be for commercial use.
Our Report: Humaneâmakers of the worldâs first AI Pinâhave issued a warning to all AI Pin owners to stop using the AI Pins charging case âimmediatelyâ as itâs âa fire safety risk.â
đ Key Points:Â
Humane warnedâin an email to customersâthat there are issues with a battery cell that could âpose a fire safety riskâ, but the AI Pin, battery booster, and charging pad are ânot affected.â
They confirmed theyâd sacked the battery cell vendor, are looking for a new supplier, and are compensating customers with two months of its $24 subscription service, without charge.
They issued this warning âout of an abundance of cautionâ after receiving just one customer complaint, and havenât confirmed if users will receive a replacement charging case.
đ€Â Why you should care: This latest issue follows an onslaught of poor customer reviewsâafter it started shipping the pin in Aprilâthat the pin falls short of expectations and isnât ready for consumer use, and follows reports that the founders are currently looking for a buyer.
