📈 NVIDIA outperformed the broader market on Monday after a volatile week of trading last week. It’s Data Center Business is predicted to drive Q2 earnings upside according to UBS. Learn more.
Our Report: AI search engine start-up, Perplexity, is partnering with Polymarket—a block-chain-powered prediction marketplace that allows users to bet on real-world events using real-time, probability data—to improve the betting experience.
🔑 Key Points:
Polymarket will now display news summaries—taken from Perplexity’s search results—about specific events, along with its probability predictions, and include a search box for further questions (also powered by Perplexity).
It will also create a shareable column, using Perplexity’s ‘Pages’ feature (users create shareable pages from results) that will be added to Perplexity’s ‘Discover’ section, with Perplexity exploring more partnerships to feature.
Perplexity will use data from Polymarket—such as election patterns and market trends—and display it, visually, in answers to search queries, using the AI platform, Tako, which will generate the visualizations.
🤔 Why you should care: The two companies believe that this partnership aligns with their shared goal of delivering trusted information in a cluttered, noisy digital environment, strengthens their position as a reliable source of knowledge, and highlights the increasing demand for immediate, data-driven insights.

Our Report: Meta and Universal Music Group (UMG) have expanded their partnership (initially formed in 2017 to allow Meta—formerly Facebook—users to upload and share videos featuring songs from its music catalog, addressing copyright infringement issues) into a multi-year agreement that will “address unauthorized AI-generated content that could affect artists and songwriters.”
🔑 Key Points:
The partnership details weren’t released, but the new agreement “reflects a shared commitment to protecting human creators and artistry, including ensuring that artists and songwriters are compensated fairly.”
This follows a (now-resolved) feud between UMG and TikTok, which saw TikTok delete UMG’s music catalog from its platform, causing UMG to release a statement highlighting concerns over AI safety on the platform.
It also comes after the Recording Industry Association (which represents UMG) filed a lawsuit against AI music generators—Udio and Sunom—accusing them of training their models on copyrighted music.
🤔 Why you should care: Meta only trains its AI music generator models (AudioCraft, MusicGen, and Jasco) on “Meta-owned and specifically licensed music”, which shows—along with their partnership with UMG—that they’re taking an ethical approach to music and AI.

In January 2023, a group of artists filed a lawsuit against AI image/video generators, Midjourney, Runway, StabilityAI, and DeviantArt, accusing them of using their copyrighted work to train their AI models.
Judge Orrick has ruled that “the allegations of induced copyright infringement are sufficient” enough for the case to move forward into a discovery phase which will determine if these companies violated copyright laws.
During the discovery phase, the artist's lawyers will be given access to internal documents from the indicted AI companies and will reveal details about their training datasets, mechanisms, and inner workings.
According to insider reports, Apple Intelligence features will cost users nothing, until 2027, because Apple believes it will take at least three years to develop AI features that are worth pay-walling.
Apple will launch Apple Intelligence to users as a beta (in the fall), a cautious move that suggests there are concerns over how well it will perform and a realization that it may take time to improve quality/accuracy.
While the basic AI-powered writing tools and Mail AI summaries will probably work well, straight out of the gate, the more complex features—like the image and emoji generators—may be harder to integrate.
