Renowned AI scientist, Stanford Professor, and ‘Godmother of AI,’ Fei-Fei Li, has successfully raised another $100M in funding for her start-up World Labs, in a round led by VC firm, NEA. This marks the second funding round since the company's inception in April, and takes the start-up to Unicorn status, as it's now valued at over $1B.
Li started World Labs to develop AI that could “do more than see and talk.” She’s planning to build AI that can process 3D data with human-like understanding, so it can understand the dimensions of objects, know where they are and what role they play in the physical world, which will revolutionize robotics, autonomous vehicles, and gaming, and open up possibilities in industries like healthcare and urban planning.
Investors can clearly see the potential of this concept and are backing Li, despite a lack of start-up funding in the current climate.
