📸 Google upgrades AI search experience with images & drafts
Read Time: 4 minutes
Our Report: Google has introduced new features to its AI-powered search feature (Search Generative Experience/SGE), enhancing its capabilities to generate images based on user prompts and allowing users to draft content before changing both length & tone.
🔑 Key Points:
SGE will be enabled directly within the Google search engine & will allow users to specify the type of image they want (drawing, photo, painting, etc).
All images will have metadata identifying them as AI-generated and will also contain an invisible watermark powered by SynthID (Google’s AI watermark system).
Furthermore, SGE includes a writing assistant which empowers users to generate and customize drafts—where they can adjust the length of the draft, and the tone to be more serious or casual.
Due to concerns about inappropriate content, the image generation feature is limited to users aged 18 and above and comes with strict filtering policies to prevent harmful or misleading imagery.
🤨 Why you should care: The search engine experience largely hasn’t changed over the past 20 years. Fortunately, these developments—integrating AI with search—are bound to catalyze a new era of search engines, ultimately leading to a more enjoyable and interactive user experience

Researchers at the University of Kentucky utilized AI to decipher a word from an ancient scroll carbonized by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (around 2000 years ago).
Two students, using 3D X-ray images and AI, identified the Greek word "πορφύραc" (purple) from the scroll—with the development marking a breakthrough for researchers who hope to use the technology to decrypt a plethora of ancient scripts.
Didi (a cheaper version of Uber) has secured $149M in funding from two investors tied to the Chinese government in an effort to launch 24/7 robotaxis by 2025.
This investment will bolster Didi's efforts in R&D, product implementation, and commercial use of autonomous driving technology.

Google has committed to defending customers using certain generative AI products against copyright infringement lawsuits, including covering legal risks for users of seven specific AI products (Drive, Slides, Docs, etc).
Google's protection also extends to users if generated outputs resemble copyrighted works, provided they didn't intentionally infringe on rights and follows similar assurances by Microsoft and Adobe—who have also committed to defending users who generate content using their AI tools.
